Proof of Settlement Funds
The Canadian government require evidence that you have enough "liquid" funds to support yourself in Canada. To do this, you need:
- A certified letter from your bank confirming all accounts held and their balance up to a specific date.
- Official bank statements for the past 6 months up to a specific date.
Both the letter and the statements must be dated to a specific date that is no older than 30 days, so you need to submit the application within the 30 days of the date otherwise you will need to request another letter/more statements.
As a couple you need to have at least $15312/£8633 (as of June 2017). So your banking information must prove that you have this amount.
Our bank was pretty helpful with this and they sent us everything we needed. There was an admin charge of roughly £10 for issuing the certified letter and they'll ask which date you want it done on. Make sure you give them enough notice as it can take up to 10 working days to receive the letter/statements.
You may need additional information such as letters from accountants/business bank if self employed or details of any other funds.
