Proof of Work Experience
For me, this is where things got tricky. For every job you listed in your express entry application, you must provide a reference and proof of employment.
Some of the earlier companies I worked for were no longer in business or I had worked there over 10 years ago, so they had deleted all my records. The best advise that I can give is to try and gather as much information as humanly possible.
There were two jobs that I couldn't get a formal reference from, so luckily I managed to find some old payslips and tax information that could prove I actually worked there. Another tip is to ask old work colleagues who you might still be friends with to help. This was definitely the most time consuming part of the application. Some companies took weeks to provide references and there was a lot of going back and forth and chasing up on my part. Bearing in mind that you only have 90 days to gather all the information that you need. We knew in advance that we would need this information if we got invited to apply, so had already contacted some of our previous employers to ask if they would provide evidence/references. So if you're at that stage, it might be something to think about.
Oh and one last tip, invest in a good quality scanner/printer - you're going to need them!
