Invitation to Apply
On April 19th 2017, we were lucky enough to receive an invitation to apply. This basically means that the Canadian government issue invitations to apply for permanent residency to applicants within a certain point value. This is the beginning of some serious hard work! The information you need for this part of the application is as follows (and is different for everyone, depending on your circumstances):
- Proof of work experience
- Copies of passports
- Canadian Immigration Medical
- Education documents
- UK Police Clearance
- RCMP clearance
- Proof of Settlement Funds
- Digital photo
You have 90 days to file this part of the application, which might seem like a long time, but trust me...it's not! This may not seem a lot on it's own, but as I go through each step you'll see how much work is involved! I'll do posts on each point that requires some in-depth explaining. Some are pretty self explanatory...
Copies of passports - colour scans of the biographic pages of your passports
Education documents - colour scans of secondary and post-secondary education certificates
Digital Photo - A digital photo of each applicant taken by a photographer that must meet certain requirements.
There are the three easiest steps, although we did have to get our photos taken twice due to a dodgy photographer! ;)
